Allergies, Asthma, and Eczema

An allergy is a harmful immune response evoked by an antigen that is not itself inherently harmful.

Antigens that trigger allergies are often called allergens.

Things Like Hives, Hay Fever, Asthma, and Eczema are examples of Immediate Hypersensative Immune Reactions.  These occur quickly after exposure to the allergen. They are usually mediated by antibodies of the Ige class.

These conditions often times go hand in hand.  People with Asthma tend to also suffer other allergic conditions such as eczema or nasal allergies. Allergic asthma often temporarily seems to ease or alleviate completely in early adulthood. Although, in 75% of cases, the asthma reappears later, showing that the underlying immune condition has not been addressed.

A majority of children with Eczema go on to develop hay fever as adults.  And another majority go on to develop asthma.  Unless the underlying immune dysfunction is addressed, you will only manage symptoms and devolop more allergic conditions as you age.  So you see why it is important to heal the body from the root cause and develop good natural health.

Several things can help naturally bring the immune response back into balance and ease your allergic response.

Transfer Factor

Transfer Factor would the MOST beneficial thing you can do, to modulate the immune system since it has the capabity to educate the immune system to respond properly.  It does this by bringing into balance the 2 primary responses of the immune system Th1 and Th2 and has been proven in studies to do this effectively.

This would effectively get to the root cause of allergies, asthma and eczema....hypersensitive immune response thereby eliminating the allergic response.  Read more about Transfer Factors History and other info on my home page, healthy kids, and other links on my site.  This is the most important component in addressing immune dysfunctions such as these.

For Eczema, Transfer Factor can also be applied directly to the skin with transfer lotion and aloe gel containing the transfer factor.

OPC's

In addition to Transfer Factor
, you can add anti-oxidants and bioflavonoids that have been shown in studies to reduce allergy systems. Among the most popular are grape seed extract, pine bark extract, quercetin and other flavonoids.

Although they occur naturally in many foods -when used in supplement form they can be extremely helpful in reducing allergy symptoms especially when taken in conjunction with vitamin C.  You can find one of the best blends of these OPCs I have ever seen HERE and one of the best vitamin C supplements HERE.

Probiotics

Good Bacteria have been shown to prevent and help alleviate allergies, asthma, and eczema.  Allergic people often have different types of bacteria than the normal healthy person in their intestines, specifically, less lactobacilli and bifidobacteria  Probiotics and probiotic cultured food are an important addition to everyones daily health regime, especially those with allergic conditions and those who have taken anti-biotics in their lifetime!  Read more indepth Probiotic Info Here.

Essential Fatty Acids

EFA's are another vital thing that most people are lacking especially the Omega 3, GLA and CLA types.  These fatty acids have anti-inflamatory properties which can help alleviate allergy symptoms.  They also a play a big role in a healthy functioning immune system in addition to all the other benefits they give.  Learn More Here.

Diet Eliminations

Some food allergies are obvious and others not so obvious.  You might only have a sensativity that is affecting your immune system but not a full blown allergy that will register on allergy scratch tests.

Eczema and Asthma often are triggered or acerbated by food allergies.  Most Commonly by Wheat, Gluten, and Diary.  Some other common ones include Soy, Corn, Nuts and MSG (msg should be avoid anyways).   Around 80% of children with asthma also have documented food allergies.

If you have any immune health condition you should always test for allergies.  You can do the regular scratch test with your doctor and also request the ELISA test.  A lot of doctors will say it is unessacary or inaccurate but I assure you when it comes to natural health, most are not well informed in more natural and alternative methods and it has been proven to help many suffering from food sensitivities.  Have them order the ELISA test through

If you have food allergies you will have to cut out the offending food.  This may be temporary, since as you heal and strengthen your body with Transfer Factor and other natural health building things you may be able to add them back to your diet.  Even if not fully you may be able to eat the offending foods ocassionally or in small amounts once your body heals.  Some have developed to much damage in their bodies already before they decided to control the condition through natural remedies or they were born with inherently weaker immune systems and they may never be able to add certain foods back.

Going gluten and dairy free can be very difficult at first but it is worth it if this is one of the things aggrevating your immune system.
